In April 2008 “Get-Set-Go” was installed at the entrance to the new platinum rated LEED Carbondale Recreation Center in Carbondale, CO. It was sited in front of two steel columns that support a large canopy structure at the south entrance. I selected a deep blue color to complement the bright red and yellow color pallet used by the architect. A series of holes were hand drilled into the sculpture’s folded steel forms to add texture to the artwork. This allowed light to filter through the steel plate creating stippled patterns of light on the opposing solid steel surfaces. I worked with the selection committee and the architect to site the artwork, decide on placement for night lighting, and select xeriscape plant material for the site.
