"Local Motion", Synergy Series #8 (2009)
“Local Motion” was installed in October 2009 in the plaza area of the new GVT Bus Transfer Station in Grand Junction, CO. The Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture selected the sculpture for a $29,500 site-specific public arts commission. This sculpture (17'6"H x 9'0"W x 8'3"D) consists of six folded steel perforated forms that are elevated in the air by a steel column. This interactive artwork is engineered so that the upper sculptural forms can be easily rotated by turning a wheel located on the steel column.

“Synergy”, Synergy Series #7 (2009)
“Synergy” is a large folded steel sculpture ( 10’6”H x 8’0”W x 6’6”D) that was installed at the entrance to the new 55,000 sf Redding Library in Redding, California in March 2009. This $40,000 site-specific installation was commissioned by the Art in Public Places Library Committee to stand as a welcoming icon for patrons entering this large sustainable civic building. The building was designed by the California based architectural firm LPA, Inc. www.lpainc.com

“Get -Set-Go”, Synergy Series #3 (2008)
“Get-Set-Go”, a site-specific Public Art Commission, was installed in Carbondale, CO in April, 2008. This sculpture is fabricated from perforated steel plate and consists of a sequence of folded forms. It has been finished with bright blue powder-coating and stands 10’H x 10’W x 6’D. It is constructed from laminated wood with a finish that resembles terra-cotta. Jester is part of the 'Wall Series' a sculptural concept based on a folded form joined along a central axis. All the works are free standing and offer a variety of viewing options.

This bronze sculpture is 12'6"H x 1’7”W x 1’7”D, weighs 400 lb., and can be easily turned a full 360 degrees on its base. The dark patina compliments the bronze architectural details of the Fine Arts Center.

"Unit" (1982)
Proposal of "Unit" was presented to the city of Eugene, Oregon, Parks Dept. Committee. The permanent public sculpture was installed in Washington-Jefferson Park on 6th Avenue near the Eugene Performing Arts Center. The project was a joint venture with an Oregon patron and Louis Kroeck, Landscape Architect for the city of Eugene. The sculpture "Unit" consists of two solid aluminum disks joined together by a cor-ten steel base section. The piece weighs 3000 lb. with dimensions of 9'3"H x 5'2"W x 2'10"D. PUBLIC ART - ASSISTANT SCULPTOR

1987 - Assisted New York sculptor George Trakas in the construction of a site-specific sculpture at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. This sculpture, built from steel beams and wooden planks, creates a series of five platforms varying in length from 10' to 15'. It was constructed as part of the Site-Specific Sculpture Symposium that also included works by Alice Aycock and Michael McCafferty.

1975 -1982 Assisted Jan Zach, internationally recognized Czech sculptor, with the fabrication and installation of commissioned public art. The major works are listed below. A recent book Intersections: The Life and Art of Jan Zach, published by the University of Washington Press in 2003, presents illustrations of these works and documents my eight years as assistant sculptor.

1982 The 11'0"H x 23'7"W x 3'0"D sculpture "Marching Women", consisting of 16 abstract female forms, was created as a tribute to women's achievement. The sculpture was initially constructed from laminated wood, a lengthy seven month process, in preparation for a bronze casting in New York.

1977 "Galaxy", a tri-columned sculpture was placed in front of Lower Columbia College's Learning Resource Center in Longview, Washington. The sculpture's 80' tapering black wood poles were covered with bands of stainless steel, brass, and enameled metal.

1976 A 7'5"H sectional sculpture, fabricated in Enduro stainless steel, was commissioned for a New Orleans plaza.

1975 The approximate 10'H x 10'W x 10'D laminated piece "Phoenix", sponsored by Bohemia Inc., was built from plywood components (2' x 8') that were glued/nailed together in a continuous irregular spiral. This sculpture is located at Arcosanti, Paolo Soleri's modern environment in Arizona.

1976 - Assisted New York sculptor Tony Rosenthal with the transporting and installation of a hinged 10'H x 10'W sectional cor-ten steel sculpture in Buffalo, New York.

1974 - Assisted Hugh Townly, a Rhode Island sculptor, with the construction and installation of a series of 8'9"H cast-cement sculptures titled "Eugene Group". The work was part of the Oregon International Sculpture Symposium that also featured works by Bruce Beasley, Roger Bolomey, John Chamberlain, Dimitri Hadzi, and Tony Rosenthal.
