Please Be Seated [08/09]

This is a full scale plywood model (9’0”H x 8’6”W x 5’0”D). The sculpture will be fabricated from 3/8” steel plate, sandblasted, and then left to weather naturally. The original concept for the work was inspired from a broken concrete laundry tub. The sculpture will be placed in a rural area in Colorado with a view of the foothills and Rocky Mountains. The 3 sided form is designed to “enfold” the viewer when seated within the structure. “Please Be Seated” is a private commission.

Grand Valley Transit (GVT) Bus Transfer Station (Completed Sculpture) [10/09]

Local Motion, Synergy Series #8 (17'6"H x 9'0"W x 8'3"D) was installed at the GVT Bus Transfer Station (Grand Junction, CO) on October 01, 2009. This interactive site-specific sculpture was designed so that even a small child can rotate the upper sculptural forms 360 degrees by turning the wheel on the supporting column. The sculpture provides an open invitation to the public to “modify” the artwork by changing its position in space. Its height and bright yellow color also lend an identity to the bus station and mark its location within the surrounding urban environment.

Redding Library Project [03/09]

Synergy, Synergy Series #7, a $40K public art commission, was unveiled and dedicated at the entrance to the new Redding Public Library on March 20, 2009 in Redding, CA. This site-specific sculpture (10’3’H x 8’0”W x 6’6”D) is fabricated from 3/8 inch folded steel plate. The sculpture uses natural light as a central element within the structural design. During the fabrication process deep recesses are created within the sculptural forms that produce changes in color and light patterns throughout the day. The color of the artwork seems to change from saturated hues on cloudy days to lighter surfaces on sunny days.
